Advice
We offer advice to the best of our ability on these pages, based on years being tattooed, stories from our colleagues, customers and based on professional experience.
You can e-mail us with your questions using the e-mail button in the left side-bar. Please do not change the e-mail title as we may not open it if we do not recognise the address (too many viruses around to take that risk!). We will get back to you within a few days. Please note we will not send you designs nor give prices via email, you need a consultation for prices.
Generally, we advise the following:
- Get the tattoo you want, not the just any old one that fits your budget. If you can't afford the one you'd ideally have, save up until you can afford it. Mistakes can end up costing more in the long-term.
- If you don't know what you want, do lots of research until you do. A few days or weeks effort now will ensure you don't have to look at our cover-up section......
- Shop around the studios by all means - but PLEASE look at the portfolios and compare the standard of work as well as the price. If there is no portfolio, STEER CLEAR!
I offer advice and my perspective on some of the more popular styles, including tribal, Celtic, traditional, Polynesian, New school, etc.
If you are choosing your first tattoo, there are some general rules which apply about size, placement, preparation, etc. It is important to read this if you want to ensure you get a design that you are happy with in the long term.
Many people have tattoos with which they are not entirely happy. Maybe the tattoo was done poorly, the design is not right or perhaps it's just old. This section will give you advice on choosing whether to re-work the old design or to cover it, and advice on the type of designs that work as covers.
No matter how good the tattooist and how great the design, a tattoo will only be good if you look after it properly. READ THIS AND FOLLOW IT!
We prefer you to visit the shop to discuss your needs because tattoos are a visual medium and its difficult - if not impossible - to do by phone or e-mail. Phone for a time for a free consultation. However if you have general queries which are not answered in our advice section, by all means e-mail us or call us.
